Once reserved for special occasion, discotheque or spacemen, shiny silvers (and other metals for that matter) were on full display as key day and night pieces. Granted, sometimes these metals are over-the-top and clearly only Vanity Fair party-worthy as in the undeniably fabulous Gucci flapper dresses dripping in golden fringe or the romantic Gatsby inspired silver slip dresses with feather shawls at Ralph Lauren. Better still the head-to-toe transluscent silver sequined pantsuit from Givenchy.

Metallic Fashion Trend
The neat surprise is how many designers are bringing the metallic fashion trend of shiny, ore-inspired tones into everyday outfits from suiting, jackets and skirts to dresses, pants and oh the shoes! Like any good neutral color, these metals flatter lots of skin tones, compliment lots of colors and patterns and can be dressed up and down. With Ferre and Philosophy for inspiration, let metallica rock your wardrobe.
Golden shorts with tan belt and a nouveau oxford shirt is chic and glamorous while simultaneously feeling comfortable and demure. The last time we saw truly metallic shorts en masse they were a kind of hot pant (and a hot mess). That’s why we’re going coo coo for this metallic fashion trend . His short-sleeve belted dress could layer under a jacket or with beautiful earrings for evening. Clearly a metal wonder it still feels so relaxed. And, if there’s doubt that small metallic touches can make a big impact, we adore the solid gold bar belts that provide a pop of luxe.
Certain things in life are expected. That the sun will rise and set; that Starbucks will not run out of skim milk; that Alberta Ferretti’s Philosophy line will produce the softest, most flowing, feminine, pretty and diaphynous dresses you’ve ever seen. The looks are retro, modern, soft and edgy all at once. Silver embroidered tennis vests almost looks sporting until you see the magnificent pleated skirt monochromatically paired with it. Hitting mid-calf this could feel dowdy but instead is energized and young. A glossy silver blazer narrowly escapes the costume realm and the jacket-over-dress looks are polished but still casual.
