The best prediction one can ever make about Red Carpet dressing is that it’s certain to be unpredictable. But in the spirit of the upcoming awards season, we’re betting on some key trends, inspired by the latest Spring collections. We think this round of Red Carpets could be the most colorful -and possibly the most casual – yet.
Spring Runway 2013
Red Carpet Fashion Predictions
We love how some designers are jumping out of their predictable zone to create a really fresh season of dress-up options. Here our red carpet fashion predictions for the spring trends likely to be adorning our favorite Hollywood A-listers over the next couple of gala months.
Think layers of tulle and chiffon, wispy skirts, goddess draping and light-as-air silhouettes. These kinds of gowns are always Red Carpet favorites for one simple reason – they are undeniably beautiful. The combination of sparkle, lace, fluid fabrics and fit create sweeping fairy tale confections worthy of a ballet at Lincoln Center.
Romantic Go-Tos Alberta Ferretti, Jenny Packham, J.Mendel on stars like Emily Blunt, Emma Stone, Octavia Spencer, Jessica Biel
For some less (like way, way, less) is truly more. Strong but simple silhouettes, understated and elegant neutral colors with minimal embellishment. Beyond the shape, what details are added are highly intentional. Often meant to be statement pieces, these dresses (or paintsuits- watch out!) aren’t for the faint of heart.
Mono-Dramatic Go-Tos Givenchy, Donna Karan on stars like Cate Blanchett, Rooney Mara, Gwyneth Paltrow
So long as the sun will shine and Louboutins will have red bottoms, there will be the sexy Red Carpet looks. Often a mixture of old Hollywood glam and Vegas showgirl, these gowns’ necklines are cut down to there, hemlines slit up to here and hugging every curve.
Sex Kitten Go-Tos: Versace, Ralph Lauren, Zac Posen on stars like Blake Lively, Renee Zelweger, Viola Davis
In Spring 2013 colors will meet prints with the help of some exotic inspirations. From simple jailhouse stripes to paint splatter print to ornate Indian tapestries, we predict some of the more daring fashionistas in Hollywood will show wonderfully quirky gowns this year.
Graphic Go-Tos Oscar de la Renta, Elie Saab, Marchesa, Carolina Herrera on stars like Krysten Ritter, Zoe Saldana
