Start with a Stunning Base
Begin one of two ways with your first layer. Try a blank canvas: pair of slick, black leather slacks or a little black dress. Or, go bold in an abstract pattern (paisley, perhaps?), fringe details (meow!), bright colors (shocking blue is unexpected for fall), or interesting silhouettes (an hourglass figure doesn’t always have to fall into fit and flare!).
Add a Hot Pair of Shoes
As long as you don’t mind waiting at a taxi stand, a sexy pair of strappy stilettos is always a great choice. But, if you want something cute and a bit more functional, try a quirky pair of flats. New York in September can still be hot so sandals are acceptable. Try gladiators from Mossimo that won’t break the bank and are trendy, too!
Layer on a Stellar Jacket
Celebs like Kim Kardashian West and top bloggers like Garner Style have been donning extra long robe jackets for the fall-to-summer transition. A shin or an ankle-length jacket will add chicness to your sleek tailored pant or short skirt ensemble. And, it’s functional! You never know when a autumn rain might (try to) dampen your plans.
Pick Up the Perfect Purse
To match your statement shoes, add a unique designer bag. Honor the runway with this cute piece from Moschino, an easy-to-carry wrist bag to hold your lip gloss, phone, and business cards. If you want something that won’t get in the way of snapping street style photos, get a workhorse like Kate Spade’s Cedar Street Elissa handbag, a spacious leather classic that’s even big enough to toss in a pair of flats for tired feet.
Little Things That Count
Polish your fashion week look with accessories that impress. Catch eyes with cut-off Miu Miu sunglasses. Pay homage to vintage runway shows with a silk Schiaparelli scarf, Ferragamo pumps, or statement jewelry.
Polish It Up with Makeup
If you’ll be spending time networking over cocktails, you’ll want to have a great eye look. Bring along a versatile eye palette from Bobbi Brown or Too Faced, small enough to toss in your purse. Never leave home without a good moisturizer, like bareMinerals’ Complexion Rescue.
